Accounting Manager

The Manager of Accounting will oversee the accounting functions of the organization, including direct supervision of all Staff Accountants and supervision of general accounting and payroll. Responsible for financial reporting and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and Franchise OEMs.

Accounting Manager Essential Duties:

  • Mentors and directs all staff reports. Ensure all direct reports understand the business so as to provide exceptional and reliable data and support.
  • Supervises payroll processing in compliance with government and company standards.
  • Leads all Staff Accountants and supervises all general ledger reconciliations and vehicle accounting.
  • Responsible for month-end and year-end accounting close, including calculating monthly bonuses and commissions.
  • Prepares the organization’s monthly financial statements and works with the organization’s outside accounting firm to complete the annual audit and preparation of the annual financial statements.
  • Works with external auditors for understanding of company’s financial performance.
  • Communicates and reports financial and operational information and key performance metrics to the appropriate levels of management in a timely and effective manner.
  • Manages the day-to-day cash flow of the company, including daily treasury reporting, maintains the 13-week rolling cash flow forecast and ensures necessary funds are available to handle weekly scheduled disbursements.
  • Works with Accounts Payable Supervisor to ensure the most optimum use of cash resources for payments to vendors.
  • Develops internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure company assets are safeguarded.
  • Maintains current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Establishes positive relationships and communicates as necessary with the board of directors, owners, employees, banks, vendors, customers and any other stakeholder in the business.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Five to seven years of accounting experience and departmental supervision.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience implementing internal controls and business procedures.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Experience in managing others in the performance of their job duties.
  • Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  • Proficiency in ten-key accuracy, PC usage and Microsoft software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of ADP/CDK Enterprise software a plus.
  • Ability to represent the organization to the external community in a positive manner.
  • Ability to function as a team player with the management team and other employees of the company.
  • Ability to travel to branches, customers, and other industry related meetings as necessary
